Motivation from Coach Brandy!
Here we are, heading into yet another New Year. If you are like me, you’ve probably been plotting your “New Year, New Me” moves for months now.
It all starts with a moment where life decides to smack you with a serious reality check....something becomes so glaringly clear that a change is needed, but instead of making a shift immediately, you proudly declare, “I can't deal with that right now, I’ll start fresh in the New Year.”
But WHY do we do this?! We receive such ah-ha moments, these crystal-clear revelations about what’s not working, yet we convince ourselves that it’s fine to keep going down the same path to nowhere, until “the New Year.”
What happened to adults? Why are we so quick to wait for some "perfect" time to take back control of our lives? Kids don’t do this. Oh no. If something isn’t working for a child, they’ll stop mid-stride and boldly say, “I need to start over?” No shame, no hesitation, no fear... they know when something isn’t right, they recognize when their actions won’t deliver their desired results, and don’t waste time pretending they will. They pivot without blinking. So, why can’t we give ourselves the same permission? What’s stopping us from hitting reset the moment we feel the pull to do so?
Did you know that choosing to start over isn’t weakness? No ma'am, it’s power! It takes strength to look at your life, own where you are, and say, “This ain’t it. I’m ready for something different.” It’s called self-awareness, baby, and it’s a gift!
And guess what? You don’t have to wait for anyone’s permission to change course. Your personal "new year" can start any time you want it to! The moment you see the need for a fresh start is the moment you can take it!
But let’s be real, the decision to start over isn’t always easy. It requires humility and vulnerability, two things that don’t always come naturally...at least for me it doesn't. Starting over challenges us to face that things are just not working, and to admit that we’ve stayed where we are for way too long.
Here’s my truth...delaying change won’t get you where you want to go. The fire inside you, the one that’s been dimmed by complacency, uncertainty, or fear, won’t blaze without that reset. Stop waiting for the calendar, your friends, or some external green light... YOU are the green light! That work you’ve been avoiding... yeah, that’s your bridge to transformation. And trust me, putting in the work to get to the other side is worth it.
Now let me be clear, not every revelation calls for a full-on reset. But when it does you’ll know, because it won't leave you alone. Be mindful though, when the time comes for you to shift, be sure that you are moving away from something towards something better!
Make the resolution to start taking action on your goals right now! Take some time to sit with yourself and ask the hard questions like:
Am I on the path to achieving what I truly want for myself?
What assumptions am I making about my own potential?
What accomplishments will I miss if I don’t make a shift?
What needs to fall into place for me to pivot?
Let this be the year you do not wait for the next one to start before you take action in your life!

Nice! Thank you for sharing!
This goes right along with the word…God didn’t give us the spirit of fear. Learning to trust God and who he is within us so that we can reset and move forward.
Great perspective and excellent advice!
